No, this isn’t the start of a “man walks into a bar” style joke, it’s actually a brand new PR stunt by Fever PR.
To celebrate the launch of a new gambling service from one of their clients, they floated a 50ft rubber duck down the Thames – no, I’m not sure about the relevance either – and secured some great press coverage as a result.
While it is quirky, it did remind me of a similar PR stunt by Taylor Herring that involved a polar bear floating on an iceberg down the Thames that was hugely successful a few years ago.
Originality is important in PR but so long as you can come up with something that makes a great picture (or five!) for the papers to print, you’re on to a winner.
